What we collect and why
Contact form
When you send us a message we collect your name, email address, your telephone number if you give one, and your message. We use these only to read and reply to your enquiry. We do this on the basis of our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us.
Newsletter
When you sign up to our newsletter we collect your email address. We use it only to send you news and offers from The Arcade, on the basis of your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter or by emailing us.
Chat assistant
Our website has an optional chat assistant that answers questions about The Arcade and its businesses, using only information published on this website. If you use it, the messages you type are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, which writes the reply. We use your messages only to answer your questions, on the basis of our legitimate interest in helping visitors.
We do not store your conversations. A conversation stays in your browser until you close the tab, and our server logs record only technical details, such as how long a reply was, not what you wrote. Please don't include personal details, such as your name, phone number or email address, in your messages.
Visiting the website
We do not use analytics or advertising trackers and we do not build profiles of visitors. Like any website, our hosting provider keeps short-lived technical logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, to keep the site secure and running.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information or pass it to third parties for their own marketing.
We use service providers to run this website, including website hosting, a database, an email service for the newsletter, and an AI provider (Anthropic) for the chat assistant. They process information only on our instructions. Some of them may store or process information outside the UK, in which case we rely on the safeguards UK data protection law requires. Our managing agent, MAPP, may handle enquiries on our behalf.
We may also disclose information where the law requires us to.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries are kept for as long as we need to deal with them and for a reasonable period afterwards for our records.
- Newsletter sign-ups are kept until you unsubscribe.
- Chat assistant messages are not stored by us. Anthropic, which processes them to write replies, normally deletes them within 30 days and, under its commercial terms, does not use them to train its AI models.
Cookies
This website does not use analytics or advertising cookies.
If you use the chat assistant, your browser keeps the current conversation in its session storage so it carries over as you move between pages. It is deleted when you close the tab, is needed for the chat to work, and is not used for tracking.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the information we hold about you
- correct information that is wrong or incomplete
- delete your information
- stop or restrict how we use it
Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. These requests are free. Email info@thearcadebristol.com and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

This website links to other sites, including those of the businesses in The Arcade and social media. We are not responsible for how those sites handle your information, so check their own privacy policies.
